Before Sharpsburg

A sailor from New Orleans, he enlisted in Company E (or F), 10th Louisiana Infantry on July 22, 1861 at Camp Moore, LA and was appointed Corporal.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was paroled and sent from Ft. McHenry,MD to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange on October 18, 1862. He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on November 10, 1862. He was reported as deserting his unit from the hospital in January 1864, but present on the rolls to OCtober 1864. He was later "supposed to join Brig. Gen. Morgan's command". He appears on a Register of Rebel Deserters at the Provost Marshal General, Washington, D. C. as received on April 6, 1865 from Fortress Monroe, VA, having taken an Oath and been furnished transportation to Pittsburgh, PA.
