Before Sharpsburg

He was a 26 year old mechanic in Algiers, LA when he enlisted in Company A, First Louisiana Volunteers on April 15, 1861 in Shreveport, LA. He was wounded June 25, 1862 near Seven Pines, VA. He transferred to Company C on April 28th. He was promoted to 2nd Sergeant on September 1, 1862.

The rest of the War

He resigned his Sergeant's post on April 1, 1863. He was captured in action at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863.
