He was a 25 year old painter in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company I, First Louisiana Infantry on May 4, 1861 in New Orleans. He was promoted to Sergeant on April 28, 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was reported missing and, by 1 January 1863, listed as a deserter. Post-war records say he took an oath of allegiance to the United States after Sharpsburg.
