He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg and "left on the field".
The rest of the War
Reported wounded and missing after Sharpsburg, he appears on a Parole of Prisoners, dated Office of the Provost Marshal General, Army of the Potomac, September 27, 1862. The Company Roll for August 1863 lists him as mortally wounded at Sharpsburg.
