Before Sharpsburg

From Caddo Parish, he enlisted in Company H, 2nd Louisiana Infantry on May 9, 1861 in New Orleans. He was appointed First Sergeant on May 1, 1862. He was absent, sick, at Culpepper Courthouse, VA sometime after after August 15.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was back with his Company by March 1863, but absent after September 1863, sick at Staunton, VA. By February 1864 he was supposed absent without leave in Louisiana, but was on detached service in the Trans-Mississippi Department. He was paroled at Shreveport, LA on 15 June 1865.
