Before Antietam
From Paine's Point, he enlisted at St. Charles, IL in Company M, 8th Illinois Cavalry on 15 September 1861. He was listed in the Muster and Descriptive Roll as being a 22 year old carpenter at 5' 6" tall, with light hair and complexion, and blue eyes.
On the Campaign
He contracted Typhoid Fever at Antietam, was sent to McClellan Army Hospital, Philadelphia, and was discharged from there October 14, 1864.
After the War
He lived in Chester, PA.
