He was a 24 year old clerk in New Orleans, and enlisted (date not given) in the 1st (Dreux’s) Louisiana Infantry Battalion. He transferred to the 1st Company, Washington Artillery on June 14, 1862 in Richmond.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was on extra duty in the Commissary Department to about June 1863, then in the Quartermaster Department. As late as February 1865 he was listed as a detailed Commissary Sergeant.
