Before Sharpsburg

A resident of Ouachita Parish, he enlisted in Company C, 2nd Louisiana Infantry on May 11, 1861 in New Orleans. He was detached on special service under General Magruder in May-June 1861. He was promoted to Corporal on November 1, 1861 and to Sergeant (date not given).

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Fort McHenry, MD and sent to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange on October 18, 1862. Received at Aiken's Landing, VA on October 25th and declared exchanged there on November 10, 1862. Appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War paroled at Monroe, LA (?) on June 7, 1865.

After the War

He was a founding member of the Benevolent Association of Confederate Veterans in Shreveport in 1884.
