Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted in Company H, 5th Louisiana Infantry on May 10, 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was appointed 4th Corporal on 7 October 1861. He was detached for duty as a Hospital Steward on February 10, 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was back with his unit by November 1862, and with them to at least April 1864, but there is no later military record.
