From Warwick, he enlisted on 20 September 1861 in Company I, 4th Rhode Island Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
His left arm was amputated, and he was discharged for disability at Baltimore, MD in December 1862.
