Basic information from Dyer1. From Warwick, he enlisted on 20 September 1861 in Company I, 4th Rhode Island Infantry. He was sent home to RI on furlough. He transferred to the 32nd Company, 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps in September 1863, and mustered out of the VRC on 31 October 1864.
