Before Antietam
From Providence, he enlisted on 7 September 1861 in Company A, 4th Rhode Island Infantry. He was sick in hospital in Washington, DC in November 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in September 1862 (probably at Antietam).
The rest of the War
He was in Convalescent Camp until January 1863. He was captured in action at Petersburg, VA on 30 July 1864, and back with his unit on 30 November 1864. He was transferred (consolidated) into Company G, 7th Rhode Island Infantry on 21 October 1864. He died at Camp Parole Hospital, Annapolis, MD in March 1865.
