From Slatersville, he enlisted as Sergeant on 10 September 1861 in Company E, 4th Rhode Island Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was discharged for wounds on 9 January 1863. He enrolled in Troop D, Third Rhode Island Cavalry and mustered as First Sergeant on 17 December 1863, giving his residence as Ashford, CT.

After the War

He died, possibly while still in service, at Slatersville, RI.
