He had come to America at age 3 in 1832, among the first Irish settlers in Brookline, MA. A teamster from Brookline, he enlisted in Company B, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry at age 24 in July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
