Before Antietam
A fireman in Fitchburg or Newton, he enlisted in Company D, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry at age 23 on 14 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action in the groin and three places in the thigh while in the color guard on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Died of wounds 29 October 1862 in Frederick, MD.
