Before Antietam

A tanner in Boston, he enlisted in Company D, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry at age 18 on 23 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the arm in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Captured in action at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863, paroled, and returned to duty on 23 March 1864. Wounded in the leg o 15 May 1864 at Resaca, GA and died of wounds 18 June 1864 (or 5 June 1864).
