A weaver in West Boylston, he enlisted as a Wagoner in Company D, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry at age 22 on 11 May 1861.

He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Died of wounds on 8 October 1862.
