He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

Returned to duty in April 1864, and mustered out 28 May 1864.

After the War

Married Ruth Gould Lake (b. Boxfield 1840) in Ipswich on 11 or 17 October 1869, occupation still shoemaker.
