Before Antietam

He enlisted in Company C, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 18 (17) on 1 June 1861. He was appointed Corporal on 1 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left hip in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Absent in hospital in Jersey City, NJ (return date not given). He was wounded again, at Gettysburg, on 3 July 1863. Mustered out 13 July 1864.

After the War

By 1900 he was a postal carrier in Marion. His veteran's pension was raised to $30 per month in 1918.
