Before Antietam

He enlisted in Company C, 8th Ohio Infantry as Sergeant at age 24 on 1 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Appointed First Sergeant 2 July 1863, and may also have been wounded at Gettysburg. Mustered out with his Company on 13 July 1864.

After the War

He studied medicine, graduating from Charity Hospital Medical College in Cleveland in 1867. He practiced medicine in Melmore, OH to 1884, then in Tiffin, OH.
