He enlisted in Company E, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 27 on 25 June 1861. Appointed Corporal, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the neck in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was discharged on 8 April 1863 on a Surgeon's Certificate of disability.

After the War

He was in Sandusky, OH receiving a pension of $4 a month for his wound by 1882.
