Before Antietam

He had served in the Mexican War (probably with Hughes' Maryland and District of Columbia Volunteers) for 14 months between 1846-48. By 1850 he was in Wood County, OH. He enlisted in Company F, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 35 on 7 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He transferred to the Invalid (Veteran Reserve) Corps, Company A, 20th Regiment on 30 September 1863.

After the War

He was a Trustee of Troy Township, Wood County in 1869.
