Before Antietam
He enrolled in Company G, 8th Ohio Infantry as 2nd Lieutenant at age 29 on 18 June 1861. Promoted to First Lieutenant, Company K, on 16 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He resigned on 10 February 1863.
After the War
He was farmer in Linn, Dallas County, Iowa at the 1880 US Census. He was living at Panora, IA at the time of the Regimental Reunion at Gettysburg in September 1887.
