Before Antietam

He enlisted in Company G, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 23 on 5 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Promoted Corporal on 1 December 1862, and wounded in action at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862. Appointed Sergeant 1 May 1864. Mustered out with his Company on 13 July 1864.

After the War

He was listed as living in Dodge City, KS at the time of the Regimental Reunion at Gettysburg in September 1887, having moved there about 1886. He was a candidate for Street Commissioner there in 1897. He is seen on the list of grand jurors in a case in Wichita, KS in 1905.
