Before Antietam

He was in school at Carlisle, OH in 1850, and a farmer there in 1860. He enlisted in Company H, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 19 on 6 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

Discharged for wounds at Washington, DC on 21 January 1863.

After the War

He returned to Carlisle, OH, but by 1867 was in Dunn County, WI, where he married. By 1880 he was a mail carrier living in West Blue, Fillmore County, NE. In 1900 he was a janitor in Traverse City, MI. By 1910 he was at the Northern Michigan Asylum, where he died in 1916.
