Before Antietam

He enlisted in Company K, 8th Ohio Infantry at age 19 on 5 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the face in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, hit in the heel in action at the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864. Mustered out 13 July 1864.

After the War

He went to Golden, Oceana County, MI in 1865 to farm, specializing in fruit. He was school director, justice, and commissioner of schools two years in Golden, MI. He was listed as living in Mears, MI at the time of the Regimental Reunion at Gettysburg in September 1887.
