He enlisted 28 April 1861, at New Orleans, in Company E, First Louisiana Volunteer Infantry.He was present on Rolls to August 1861, then absent on special duty as Sutler to December. Rolls from January to June, 1862, Present.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

After the War

He absent recovering from wounds to December 1862. He is shown as absent without leave on the Rolls for January to June 1863. By July he had been declared a deserter, having "recd sick furlough ... failed to report for duty". He was supposed afterward to have been in New Orleans.
