Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted 4 June 1861, at Camp Moore, LA in Company F, 6th Louisiana Infantry. He was a laborer in New Orleans, age 35 when enlisted, single. Present on Rolls to Oct., 1861. Rolls from May to August 1862, absent, sick in Hospital.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was absent for wounds to December 1862, and sick in hospital at Richmond, VA at least through January 1863. He was listed as a deserter, but back with his unit in time to be captured in action at Harrisonburg, VA on 25 September 1864. He was received at Pt. Lookout, MD from Harpers Ferry, VA on 12 October, but released on 17 October 1864, on joining the U. S. Army.
