Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted 28 April 1861, at New Orleans in Company A, First Louisiana Infantry. He was a trader living in South Port, LA, age 30 when enlisted, and single.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was hospitalized and later characterized as disabled after Sharpsburg, to at least December 1863, and was discharged for that reason by February 1864.
