He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

On muster rolls from 31 August 1862 to 14 May 1863, he is listed as absent, wounded battle of Sharpsburg, and he was on wounded furlough to 31 August 1863, He was back with his Company by November 1863, but absent, sick, on detached service from December.
