He enlisted 28 April 1861, at New Orleans in Company A, First Louisiana Infantry. He was a printer in South Port, LA, age 25 when enlisted, single.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was absent on sick furlough through December, but back with his Company soon after. He was absent, at the hospital in Staunton, VA in May and June 1863. He was afterward present with his unit. He was killed in action at the battle of Monocacy, MD on 9 July 1864.
