Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted as Sergeant on 4 June 1861, at Camp Moore, LA, in Company E, 6th Louisiana Infantry. He was a painter in New Orleans, age 22 when enlisted, single. He was elected Jr. 2nd Lieutenant on 7 August 1861 (election ordered by Col. I. Seymour).
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

Basic information from Booth1. His brother Robert E. Lynne was First Lieutenant (later Captain), same Company, but was absent sick during the Maryland Campaign, returning to duty on 21 September 1862.
