He enlisted as Sergeant on 4 June 1861, at Camp Moore, LA, in Company E, 6th Louisiana Infantry. He was a painter in New Orleans, age 22 when enlisted, single. He was elected Jr. 2nd Lieutenant on 7 August 1861 (election ordered by Col. I. Seymour).
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
