He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was absent, wounded to at least February 1863, and sick to August that year. He was detailed as a machinist at Camp Jackson Hospital, Richmond, VA to at least August 1864. He was listed on the Roll of Prisoners of War paroled at Lynchburg, VA in April 1865.
