Before Sharpsburg
He was a clerk in New Orleans, age 21 and single when he enlisted April 22, 1861, in New Orleans in the (7th?) Battalion of Louisiana Foot Rifles (Chasseurs-a-Pied). He probably served as a sharpshooter with the Washington Artillery. He transferred to the 3rd Company, Battalion of Washington Artillery on 2 April 1862, and reenlisted for the War on 22 April.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds at Shepherdstown on 28 September 1862.
