A 40 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company A, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered on 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap on South Mountain. He was the first man of the Regiment to be killed in battle.
