Before Antietam

A 33 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at First Lieutenant, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He had served in 1861 as a Lieutenant in the 8th Massachusetts Infantry for 3 months.

On the Campaign

He was first in action on South Mountain on 14 September, and was wounded in the thigh on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was sent to the hospital at Frederick, MD, and was discharged for wounds on 29 April 1863.
