Basic information from Carruth1. A 26 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in “every engagement the Regiment participated in”. Promoted to Corporal in 1863, Sergeant in October 1863, then Color Sergeant and First Sergeant in 1864. Discharged on expiration of enlistment on 9 June 1865. He was living in New Bedford in 1884.
