Basic information from Carruth1. A 21 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain. He was promoted to Corporal in 1862, and wounded in action at Fredericksburg, VA in December 1862. He transferred to Company K, 19th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps (date not given), and was discharged on expiration of enlistment on 11 August 1865.
