A 19 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled as Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was also at Fredericksburg, VA and Jackson, MS. He was discharged for disability on 29 November 1863.
After the War
He was killed in a railroad accident and buried in Newburyport in 1882.
