Basic information from Carruth1. A 25 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam, where he was wounded in the hand and side. He transferred 11 November 1864 to the 108th Company, Veteran Reserve Corps. Discharged on expiration of enlistment on 9 June 1865. He was living in Newburyport in 1884.
