Basic information from Carruth1. A 25 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam, where he was wounded in the knee. Discharged on 3 November 1862. He had later service in the 60th Massachusetts Infantry (Militia, 100 days).
