Basic information from Carruth1. A 32 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam. He was promoted to Corporal in January and Sergeant in March 1863. He transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on 24 February 1864, and was discharged 14 August 1865.
