Basic information from Carruth1. A 30 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain and at Antietam, and on the Tennessee and Mississippi Campaigns, at the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. He was promoted to Corporal in 1863 and to Sergeant in 1864. He was discharged on 3 May 1865. He was living in Bridgeport, CT in 1884.
