Basic information from Carruth1. A 23 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was in action on South Mountain, Antietam, and Jackson, MS. He was transferred to Company I, 17th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps (date not given) and discharged 30 June 1865. He died 28 January 1884 at Merrimac.
