Before Antietam
From Hustisford, he enlisted in Company A, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 18 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, on 22 July 1864 in action during the siege of Atlanta. He mustered out of service on 18 July 1865.
After the War
He may have moved, with brothers Riley and James to Burt County, NE after the War. He was living in Lyons, NE at the 1892 Regimental Reunion. He moved to Modesto, CA in 1893 and was in the grocery business.
