From Oshkosh, he enlisted in Company B, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 22 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was again wounded, at Beverly Ford, VA about 9 June 1863. He was discharged 7 December 1863 for disability.
After the War
In June 1902 the US Congress raised is veteran's pension to $24 per month.
