Before Antietam
From Oshkosh, he enlisted in Company B, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 21 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was again wounded, in action at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He mustered out at the end of his term of service on 29 June 1864.
