Before Antietam
From Decatur, he enlisted in Company C, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 22 April 1861. He was appointed Corporal (date not given).
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He mustered out on 14 July 1864 at the end of his term of service.
After the War
He went as a 'pioneer' to Chaffee County, CO in 1865. He farmed and ranched there, at Nathrop, for the rest of his life. He'd been a 'Lake County War' vigilante member and leader.
