Before Antietam
From Monroe, he enlisted in Company C, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 22 April 1861. He was appointed Corporal, Sergeant, and First Sergeant (dates not given). He was wounded at Bolivar (date not given - 1861).
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
We was again wounded, in action at Dallas, GA in 1864. He mustered out at the end of his term of service on 14 July 1864.
