Before Antietam

From Waupun, he enlisted in Company D, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 2 April 1862. He was appointed Corporal and Sergeant (dates not given) and was wounded at Cedar Mountain, VA in August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in the thigh in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He mustered out with his Company on 18 July 1865.

After the War

At the 1890 US Veterans Census he was in Plainview, Watasha County, MN.
